Watching dad in PT he's standing with some help! Dad has stood on two feet for 7 minutes now! Dad brushed his teeth this morning with his left hand, still have to work on spitting but on Monday they will work on swallowing again. I can see such an improvement from last week until now! We're a week in and I can only imagine what dad will be doing in a month! Great job!

Tell him I am offering up a rosary every morning for him and you all . Stay strong girl-I know it must be hard on you kids to see your dad struggling with this!

  4. JW, you have the fighter inside. The PT, stress, training, and frustration is going to help you let that fighter out, again!! Good luck in therapy. Release the hounds!

  9. Hi Brooke, I am John's cousin, Joe Baumgarten of the Iowa Baumgartens. John's mom and my mom are sisters. Please know that we pray for John, and all of you as well.

One of my favorite saints is St. Augustine. Here are two of his prayers to motivate you and keep you going:

    - Pray as if everything depends on God. Work as if everything depends on you. (Maybe you should post that one up in John's room!)

    - God of life, there are days when the burdens we carry chafe our shoulders and wear us down; when the road seems dreary and endless, the skies gray and threatening; when our lives have no music in them and our hearts are lonely, and our souls have lost their courage. Flood the path with light, we beseech you; turn our eyes to where the skies are full of promise.
